Ahlan wa sahlan! Welcome to Jordan

Dear Visitors !

We are local tour operarors , managing Permata Jordan Tours for Tours and Services . The idea of the tours we are proud to do  came about as a way to provide Bedouin hospitality to tourists, but we offer it with a ditinguished and excellent way . We also want to encourage visitors to Petra , Dead Sea , Madaba , Mount Nebo, Madaba , Karak Castle , Shobak Castle , Dana Nature Reserve , Wadi Al Mujib, Wadi Ibn Hammad, Wadi Al Ghwir , Jerash, Umm Qais , pella , Desert Castles , Azraq Nature Reserve ,Aqaba and the magnificant desert of Wadi Rum, so that others might share in its magnificence. To achieve these aims, we set up our traditional Bedouin camp in the desert to accommodate our guests. In the warm evenings it is possible to camp in the open. We have traditional Bedouin tents.

For anyone wanting to experience the highlights of the Middle East, Jordan is a 'must'. The people are extremely friendly, the food is excellent, and the monuments are among the best in the region. While Wadi Rum is undoubtedly on of the most magnificant desert of the world ', Jordan also boasts  the famous attractions in the world , Petra , The second wonder of the world, In addition to The Dead Sea , the lowest point of the earth,   fine crusader castles, at Kerak, Shouback , Ajloun, and a fascinating Roman city, at Jerash, Umm Qais and Arabella are still with its rich history where you can over-look through Tabaria's lake . Jordan has the desert castles located in the east of Jordan , Qaser Amra "Amra Palace" , Kharrana and more !
Jordan has a lot do do with its biblical History , where you find : The Baptism Site,Mt. Nebo, Madab and Its churches, Mukhawier .

Petra

The giant red mountains and vast mausoleums of a departed race have nothing in common with modern civilization, and ask nothing of it except to be appreciated at their true value - as one of the greatest wonders ever wrought by Nature and Man.

Although much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed.
Petra, the world wonder, is without a doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome.

Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80m high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colours and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (Treasury).

This is an awe-inspiring experience. A massive façade, 30m wide and 43m high, carved out of the sheer, dusky pink rock-face and dwarfing everything around it. It was carved in the early 1st century as the tomb of an important Nabataean king and represents the engineering genius of these ancient people.

Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world and we get to see the desert sunset. Here Bedouins live in a traditional way and you experience their warmth by spending the night at a Bedouin Camp.
Jordan’s most memorable natural sight, Wadi Rum is Lawrence of Arabia-land, where the British officer stayed in 1917 and much of the famous film was shot. Expansive red earth desertscapes vie for your attention with rugged sandstone mountains that unexpectedly rear up, sheer cliffs overlooking sand seas. The sculpting wind has created a rich gallery: rock bridges and arches, perfect smoothed domes atop towering pillars, and a spider’s-web of gnarled canyons and gorges. As romantic a place as you’ll find on earth, this is also a world class climbing destination, and a wild desolate place to hike. Above all, however, Wadi Rum is simply a difficult place to say goodbye to.

This area of Jordan is quite isolated and largely inhospitable to settled life. The only permanent inhabitants are several thousand Bedouin nomads and villagers. There is no real infrastructure, leaving the area quite unspoilt. Apart from the Bedouin goat hair tents, the only structures are a few concrete shops and houses and the fort headquarters of the Desert Patrol Corps.
T E Lawrence (of Arabia) spent a significant amount of time here during the course of the British-inspired Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War (1914-1918). Fans of the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia will be familiar with the landscape, which is not so much sand dunes as it is a mass of soaring cliffs and sandstone and granite mountains (jebel in Arabic).

Here you can hire a camel and follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia, climb the highest peaks, or sand board across the rolling sand dunes. Explore hidden canyons by foot, discover secret messages carved over four thousand years ago, or take a hot air balloon trip and soar with the eagles high above this amazing site.

There are many excellent opportunities for unusual treks. These will take you down virtually unexplored canyons, or ‘siqs’, where ancient Thamudic inscriptions and drawings are carved into the rocks. Also to be discovered are Lawrence’s Well, a Nabatean temple, desert oases and amazing rock bridges. Everywhere are breathtaking panoramic views and a sense of deep tranquility.

If you like adventure, then you’ll love Wadi Rum!

For experienced rock-climbers there are climbs reaching 1,800 meters, varying between Grade 3 and 5 in difficulty. The rocks are sandstone and excellent climbs are possible, often exceeding the quality and length of those in places such as the Italian Dolomites. Climbers must enquire in advance from the Visitors Centre, as climbs are restricted and must be accompanied by an experienced Bedouin guide.

Although a common way to explore Wadi Rum is by 4x4 vehicles, many of the more secluded areas are inaccessible to vehicles. Camels offer a more authentic and eco-friendly mode of transport, along with horse-riding. Camel and Horse Caravans can be arranged through the Visitors Centre and include trips between Aqaba, Wadi Rum and Petra.  Horse-riding tours are available from independent tour operators and should be booked in advance.  If you want to take your adventure travel up a notch, you can arrange for a mountain biking trek and explore Wadi Rum while staying fit!

Because of its unique ecosystem, Wadi Rum is a great place for bird watchers. A route for bird migration, spring and autumn are the best times of the year to spot a great number of different species either nesting in the rock faces or soaring on the thermals high above the cliffs. Vultures, eagles and other larger species of birds can often be seen here too. A good pair of binoculars is a must.

Night walking in Wadi Rum during the summer months is a surreal experience but not for the fainthearted. Only experienced walkers should undertake this activity as it is easy to become disorientated in this vast wilderness.

Climbing aboard a hot-air balloon is another unforgettable way to view Wadi Rum. Ballooning trips are available from April to June and September to December. The balloons carry up to eight passengers and lift off early in the morning.

Wadi Rum is an ideal destination for camping.  Campers can choose either the ‘wild campsites’ which are without facilities and visitors must bring their own tents and equipment, or alternatively, there are Bedouin-style campsites with all facilities and entertainment.
